The Girls First Major Snowfall!

Between yesterday and today we ended up with about a foot of snow and ice shutting the city down. The girls are not really amused by the snowfall but like having daddy home for a snow day....mommy missed out on a snow day because today was my scheduled off day. We were supposed to go to the doctor today for a 3 month check up but that will be rescheduled for next week. Since they can't play in the snow yet we stepped outside for a few seconds to at least capture them near their first snowfall.

Marley looking less than amused..removing the bink
was not an option!

Brooklyn was slightly more interested in looking
around.

Kirra even went out for about 5 seconds...she
doesn't do the snow...she is litter trained.

Even though it is a little annoying to be stuck
inside, it sure is pretty to look at.

Sickness

We've all got it. I think Brooklyn started it. She had a sore throat and was horse about two weeks ago. Made for sad little cries. Shortly after that Mike came down with a pretty nasty sinus infection and is still fighting it off. Marley had to go to the doctor on Saturday morning because she had what looked like possibly pink eye. She was also super congested (snorting milk out of her nose) and feverish. I started with the sniffles and now can't breathe hardly at all. That was all over the weekend and now Tuesday we are not much better. Luckily, the girls are headed to the doctor tomorrow for a 3 month check up ( shots involved :( ) so if they are not better I am hoping there is something we can do. I am pretty sure I can do nothing for the girls but plunge their noses and keep them cozy. This is going to be a long winter!

Working Part-time

This is my first week back to work and so far, so good. I was welcomed back by co-workers with a cute sign on my office door and breakfast. I already have a long list of to-do's that I will be working on as I get acclimated. I am off every Wednesday and this week my mom and I took the girls and Lucas to visit Grandpa and Uncle Bill at his office. I LOVE working part-time!!!!

Happy 50th Birthday's!!!

This year marked the 50th birthdays of our much loved Auntie Carol and my dad, Tim. To celebrate we went to an extra nice restaurant downtown. Boi Na Braza. It is a Brazilian steakhouse that is all you can eat....and believe me, we did some damage! After eating we went to Fountain Square to take some photos. It was so cold and windy, we took these shots in about 30 seconds. They are posted below...Enjoy!

Mike and I and Sarah and Marty left the babies with sitters! We left our girls with friends Lauren and Brian. The girls had a great time! Lauren and Brian are on the verge of having their own children so they got lots of practice. This I know because Brooklyn was leaving a deposit as we were walking out the door.

Happy Birthday to Tim and Auntie! Much love to both!

Visiting more friends

The girls and I braved the frigid weather to go and visit my friend Robin and her son Elliott who just turned two this week! Elliott is quite the handful now and is full of energy. He is absolutely adorable. He wasn't too interested in the girls but he wasn't exactly happy that his mama was holding a baby.

I am trying to get as much done as possible before returning to work next week. Time is flying by!

One week and counting...

I've made the decision to return to work early on Tuesday, January 20th.  I can stay out until 03.24.09 - unpaid, of course. The plan was for me to return some time in February.  BUT - I feel ready to head back and get into the swing of things again.  Keep in mind I have not worked since September.  I will probably change my mind as soon as I step in to LPK on Tuesday.  I am only returning part-time with not working on Wednesdays.  I think this will be good for the girls and will help make day care costs a lot cheaper as well.

As far as daycare goes...Mike's mom and dad are keeping them three days a week and they will go to a sitter on Fridays.  We love the sitter but she only had openings one day a week for now.  As things open up for her we will gradually shift the girls to her care and give Mike's mom and dad a break!  Although I think the girls are going to love spending time there - in the summer there is a pool, the place has horses, dogs, cats, etc. and there is plenty of room for them to run around - once they are mobile of course.

So, one week...I have a million and one things on my to do list between now and then.  Visits with friends, meeting people for lunch, running errands, cleaning the house, spending every second I can with Brooklyn and Marley so they don't forget who I am, etc.  It is going to be a busy week!

The "other" Katie

Many of you asked who Katie KS was that always commented on my blog...well, Katie KS is a friend I met right when we were both beginning our pregnancies. I was due December 8th and she was due December 14th. Later in our pregnancies we both found out we were having girls!

Today my girls went to visit Katie's new little one, Eva - born on December 21st. We tried to get a cute photo of their first play date, but it is kind of hard when all three can't sit up on their own and Eva wanted to sleep (she had just eaten)! I am sure there will be many more play dates to come with much more fun and cute pictures! For now this will have to do.

Orange Bowl disappointment

We dressed our tiny Bearcat fans up in their red and black and we still didn't pull out a victory! Mike made the girls UC shirts with iron transfer paper due to the lack of newborn sized Bearcat gear. We watched the game with our friends Rob and Kristy and their little boys Wes and Eli. Eli LOVED Marley. He said she was the cutest. He also told his mommy that he wants a baby sister which made his daddy cringe. Ha! We enjoyed teaching the girls to cheer for UC but still wish they could have been better good luck charms....

I brought Eli and Wes some "kiddie crack". That
is what they had for dinner...yummy!

Our little Bearcat family!!! Go UC!

The game bored even Marley...

Ringing in the new year....or screaming in the new year...you decide!

New Year's Eve was pretty uneventful. The girls were not happy campers for some reason and cried most of the day and into the evening. I think it might have been residual from their shots a couple days before. We went to my mom's house and enjoyed card playing and lots of food. Mike and I left for a couple hours to go to my friend Lauren's house. When we came home the girls had pretty much been crying the entire time we were gone. I got Brooklyn to calm down around 11:00 and Sarah got Marley to sleep close to the same time. The next thing I knew I woke up and it was 12:35...we slept into the new year! Mike and I stayed the night at my parent's house because the girls were sleeping so peacefully. They didn't even wake up to eat until 4am!

Brooklyn and Marley's first NYE!

Marley's already tired.

The girls with their cousin Lucas. We only got
one good shot because about 5 seconds later
Brooklyn started crying.

and me....a couple hours of adult time and adult
beverages was all we got this year!
